When the Word of God “Doesn’t Work” – 10 Anchors for Unshakeable Victory 2018 and Beyond

December 31, 2017

“This stuff doesn’t work!” We think it but, we dare not voice it because someone might say we have unbelief. But even the disciples asked Jesus ‘how come we couldn’t do it?’ They were given authority to stand against evil, yet they couldn’t. So, they went back to their Master and asked ‘What is wrong? We did what you told us to do, how come it didn’t work?’ (Mathew 17:16-19)

It pays to question because only in doing so, will you get an answer. Only in admitting ignorance, and seeking understanding, will we actually get it.

I have been a Believer of Christ for anything between 10 and 12 years now. There is a very interesting story of why I cannot pinpoint exactly when I truly gave my life to Christ. Ask me about it when we next meet. Just as varied as the timeline of my new birth, has been my experience as a Believer. I have yo-yoed in and out, feeling sure and strong one season and completely defeated and depressed in the next. Being elevated to heights at one point and engulfed by depths at another. (James 1:6)

I lapped up everything I was taught and made sure to put it into practice yet I and the ones who were teaching me, didn’t see lasting victory. (James 4:3)

So, of course I asked. Let me be back it up, be honest and rephrase that: So, of course I complained! ‘You say XYZ in your word but I am seeing @#$!’ ‘Your word says ABC but we are going through *&^!’ ‘Whatup G?’ Okay, maybe I don’t get that familiar but I truly have been asking ‘Lord, if You don’t lie and all your promises are “Yes and Amen”, why are we, your sons and daughters, your church, so defeated on the face of the earth?”

So mad have I been for living far below what God says is my portion spiritually, behaviourally, physically, professionally, financially and in impact that I have been obsessed with finding out where the problem is so, I and others like me, can solve it. (3 John 1:2)

So patient, so kind, so merciful, so faithful is our God that He continues to rise above the tantrums and outright insults of an ignorant, immature child, that tittle by little, the Lord has been revealing to me, His heart and mind for us.

What has shocked me beyond comprehension is that God has already done everything He needed to do to prosper us in our assignment on earth. We just need to know what is already ours and take it and anchor ourselves to it, to experience unshakeable victory 2018 and beyond. (Ephesians 1:3, 3:15-21)

10 Anchors for Unshakeable Victory Beyond 2018

Take these truths to anchor you so that you are unshakeable in 2018 and beyond:

1. God Loves You

It is so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, very key for you to know that God loves you unconditionally. Let that sink in a while. As a matter of fact, feel free to meditate on it all day, every day for as long as you need to until it is hidden deep in your heart. This was no matter what happens you can respond from your being with an ‘I know that I know that I know that God loves me unconditionally.’ (John 3:16, 10:10)

I have struggled with this truth because I took God to be like man. I collected all my experiences from childhood and came to the wrong conclusion that:

  1. God loves people differently

  2. God loves those that are perfect in their spiritual walk most

  3. God loves me when I am good (which means I also think He hates me when I am bad but has no choice but to put up with me because Jesus died for me (so God’s hands are tied and He is basically stuck with me))

The truth is that God loves you unconditionally. There is nothing you can do and there is nothing you can stop doing that will change how much God loves you. He has loved you with an everlasting love even before He brought you to earth and He will continue to love you with that same love for all of eternity. (Numbers 23:19, Jeremiah 31:3, 1:5, Psalm 139:1-18)

Selah.

Let the anchor of God’s love for you sink in and never allow anyone or anything inside or outside make you believe anything different.

2. God Purposed You

Like a manufacturer who is thoughtful, intentional and deliberate about what He is making, God purposed you to be. He created you on purpose and for a specific purpose. You are not a product of the seed of a man and a woman. Whether or not your parents wanted you or not, whether your parents planned you or not, God purpose you to come to earth at the time you did for a very specific reason. You didn’t just appear on earth and now must struggle to find your place here. Your appearance here didn’t surprise God. You are not a mistake that He now has to deal with. God took His time and creative genius to create you. He put His divine nature, wisdom and excellence in you because He created you to fulfill a special and specific purpose that only you can fulfill. (Jeremiah 1:5,6, 1 Peter 1:23, Esther 4:13, Psalm 139:13-18, Ephesians 2:10)

3. God Knew You

God knew you before there was a you. He knew every single thing about you, including the things yet to come. As Israel Houghton and Fred Hammond say “Nothing surprises You about me Jesus; nothing that I could do could separate You from me – You see me, You know me, You love me, madly!”

Don’t let the devil nor yourself or anyone else deceive you. God knew you from before He created the foundations of the earth and it still pleased Him to make you His. (Psalm 139:13-18)

4. God Chose You

It is also vital that you know God chose you even before you came to earth. And because God is omniscient, that means that God knew your life from beginning to end even before you had lived 1 second of it on earth and He still chose you to be His special child.

God will not “unchoose” you. You are the one He wants. He will never discard you. You are His, He has called you by name and He is pleased with His choice. (Psalm 139:13-18, Romans 11:29, Acts 10:34)

5. God Called You

God called you out of many other people. He has separated you for His purpose. You may feel inadequate and say “God send someone else. They are better suited than me for this.” But God doesn’t think that way. He is not looking at your human frailty; He is considering His divine purpose and plan. It is in you that He put the specific thing the world needs. He has called you out of all others because it is in you that He hid that special something those He has called you to. (Romans 8:29,30)

6. God Made You Righteous

This was another biggie for me. God made me righteous in Christ Jesus. He had already counted me among those who would be restored in relationship with Him. God had put it in my heart to receive Jesus Christ by faith. I am now the righteousness of God because of faith in Jesus’ Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

You too. You are not righteous when you do good and unrighteous when you don’t (as regarding salvation). You have been made righteous by grace. It is an unmerited, undeserved gift from God for believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. The righteousness (legal standing) that Jesus restored to you is a defense whenever you feel condemned. There cannot be a legal condemnation if the person is acquitted. Jesus took our sins and gave us His righteousness. We now stand legally righteous before God because someone else, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, took the penalty for our wrong.

When you do wrong, the Holy Spirit will convict you of wrong doing so that you can repent (change your mind and direction) and live righteously (conduct) so that the consequences of wrong doing (broken relationships, missed opportunities, ill-health, etcetera) don’t catch up with you. (Ephesians 2:8,9, Romans 8:1, 12:2)

7. God Gave You Power and Authority

You are not a worm, you are no insignificant. You are not unworthy, you are not a filthy rag who deserves nothing. The Word says, if anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation – the old has passed away, behold all things have been made new. Thanks to Jesus’ Christ, you are not only a child of God, you are a Son or Daughter, you are joint-heir with Christ Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 8:14-17)

The first thing God did for mankind was to bestow them power and authority to reign as Kings and Priests on earth. We committed treason and gave legal right of rulership to Satan but, God had already set His plan of redemption in motion. Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came as a manifestation and fulfilment of God’s Word and plan. All those who believe in Him and confess Him as Lord and Saviour have now been restored in relationship with God. Furthermore, by grace through faith, when we abide in Him, we have been given the same power and authority over earth that Jesus has. (Genesis 1:26-29, Revelations 13:8, Romans 10:9,10,17, Luke 10:19, 24:49, Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, John 14:12)

Seated in the heavenly realm with Christ Jesus, we are far above all powers, rulers, kingdom, authority. Life doesn’t happen to us, we happen to life. We can and we must bring heaven to earth. God Himself made the greatest sacrifice to make sure we have power and authority to reign as His Sons and Daughters, Kings and Priests, Ambassador from Heaven to Earth. (Ephesians 1:21-23, 1 Corinthians 15)

8. God Has Equipped You with Everything You Need

Jesus said it is not for you to worry about what you will eat, what you will wear, how you will live. God knew what you would need when He brought you here and He already made provision for you and all that concerns you.  Jesus said just seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. God says, your job is to believe and receive and His job is to provide. Furthermore, He already did all the providing at the very beginning so all that is left is for you to discover what is yours then receive it. (Mathew 6:25-34, Mark 11:22-24, Ephesians 1:3, 2 Peter 1:3)

This is the “work” of a Believer:

  1. Seek to know who God is and who you are in God

  2. Accept the gift of salvation by choosing Jesus as your Lord and Savior

  3. Study God’s Word to know what He has in store for you

  4. Choose to put God’s Kingdom first

  5. Receive God’s provision by faith

  6. Rest in Jesus’ finished work as you fulfill your Kingdom mandate

You labour in the Word to get a hold of what He had already equipped you with.  And how do you get a hold of it? You believe what He has promised you as His Ambassador on Earth and declare it to be so. (Hebrews 4)

This is a very simple legal matter. You research to find out what your rights are as citizen and diplomats of your Heavenly Government then you speak forth the provisions of the law that safeguard your rights and enforce your obligations. When an Ambassador needs something in a foreign land, he or she contacts and cites the provision and condition of his or her service. It is a great embarrassment and sign of weakness when his or her government cannot provide for his or her stay in the foreign land. A strong and wealthy country would make sure all provision is made even before the Ambassador makes a request. So, if you know God’s word to be true; that He has already provided everything you need on Earth, if you don’t see it, it is not the supply that is lacking. Like Daniel, call home and find out what the hold-up is. God will reveal to you. Address the supply chain and receive what you need to effectively carry out your duties and enjoy your time as you bring Heaven’s Kingdom Agenda to Earth.

9. God Has Made You His Steward on Earth

Kingdom citizen don’t say, “somebody should do something about…” We recognise that we are that someone and roll up our sleeves to get the job done. God made you a steward on earth. He expects you to manage yourself, others and your “garden” so that you can be “fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it.”

You are an Ambassador in your sphere of influence to dominate it with Kingdom influence. If you are in business, you are meant to dominate your industry, if you are in leadership, you are meant to rule effectively and justly, bringing peace and prosperity for you. If you are in the marketplace, your products and services are meant to transform lives and culture. If you are serving in the church, you are meant to steward hearts, minds and resources to feed God’s people with the Word that heals hearts, transforms kinds and equips the body of Christ with every good thing they need to effectively pursue their individual and corporate callings. (Ephesians 4, 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12:6-8)

We are stewards. Not here for personal gain but, as a pipe that waters others, you too will benefit from the resources that flow from within.

So, everywhere you see a problem and are tempted to say “if only…?” “Isn’t there someone…?” “I wish somebody would….” Know that you are that man or woman. Whether you engage in the field, finance others to, or partner with others to influence a positive outcome, take it onto yourself to bring the issue to God and upon receiving direction, go out and do what God Himself would have done, had He been present in the flesh. To the world, you are God in the flesh. When you fight oppression, when you illuminate minds, when you resource development, it is Jesus Himself doing that. This is how God’s Kingdom will come, this is how His will, will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Through you and me. And we will be evaluated on how effectively we stewarded the people and resources God put under our care. God entrusted us with power and authority as stewards, not owners. At the end of the day, we will each have to give an account of what we did with what He has put in our hands on His behalf. (Romans 10:14-17, Mathew 25:14-30, 19:16-22)

10. God Respects Your Words: You Have What You Say

God’s Word is the most powerful thing on Heaven and Earth. So, great is God’s Word that He has elevated it above His very names. When God says something, there is nothing that can change it, not even Him. God spoke a Word and gave man authority to bind or loose anything on earth and heaven obeys to release what that man or woman says. (Psalm 138:2, Numbers 23:19, Isaiah 55:11,12, Mathew 18:18, Isaiah 6:8)

So powerful is this that even God Himself is bound by His own Word. He said we are rulers and so, will not break His covenant with us by interfering to move things on earth without our permission. For God to do anything on Earth, He has to find a man or woman who will agree and allow Him to do so. Not because He is not omnipotent but, because He is a person of His Word. He gave us the power and authority and will not revoke that, no matter what. (Mathew 24:35)

Even when we act a fool and mess things up, God will respect our decision. Even if we choose wrong over right, God will respect our choice. Even when we choose Satan and to go to hell, God will respect our free will. He does all He can to draw us into relationship, right living and partnership with Him but does not go so far as to force us to think or do what He wants. The ultimate decision of what happens in our lives, in our families, in our nations, in the world, rests with humankind. (Deuteronomy 30:15-20, Genesis 11:6)

We have the same creative power in our words that God has. This means that God respects your words. Whatever you say, you bring to pass. He may try by His Spirit, to convince you to choose right, but if you choose wrong, God will respect that. You literally have what you say. Everything around us is a reflection and a manifestation of our choices as dictated by our words. (Job 22:28, Proverbs 18:21, Numbers 14:28,29)

So many people say “If God exists, why does He allow…?” “If God really loves us, why did He…?” May I invite you to repent today. God’s plans for us are good. He wants us to live a good life that overflows in blessing to others. If you see anything other than that manifest, don’t look up to question God but, look back to your words and the words of those that influence you, to see determine whose report you have believed and allowed to create your reality, from the words you have individually and collectively been speaking over yourselves and all that God has entrusted you as stewards. (Jeremiah 29:11, Isaiah 53:1, Job 3:25)

Stay Anchored

My friend, God loves you more than you will ever know and He wants to express His love and glory to you and all that He has given you. You are His gift, His solution to this aching world. Stay anchored in His Word, choose to allow only good, positive and godly influences into your mind and to take root in your heart. No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind has conceived what God has in store for and through you. Have faith and communicate only the truth of God’s Word in your life, your family, your health, your wealth, your work, your influence and watch His Word of faith work in your favour. God’s Word can NEVER come back to you void, don’t mind circumstances or the passage of time. It will surely come to pass. May you stay anchored in this truth throughout 2018 and beyond. (1 Corinthians 2:9,10, James 5:15, Romans 12:2, Proverbs 4:23, Luke 6:45, Isaiah 55:11,12, Habakkuk 2:3)

Happy New Year, My Dear Friend!

Thank you for your love, support and partnership. Thus far the Lord has brought us – buckle your seatbelts because greater things have yet to come! This is our promise and portion in the Lord. I bless you and release you to execute your purpose with excellence. You are the right person, at the right place, at the right time! May you move in divine wisdom, understanding and revelatory knowledge. Go happen to the world, BIG TIME in 2018! I commission you in Jesus’ Name! Amen! (1 Samuel 7:12, Ephesians 1)
